“Black Sea WinExports”

Project Objectives
The project “Black Sea WinExports” aim to strengthen the capacity of wine producers to access the world market. This will be achieved by broadening the cooperation among the targeted regions in order to exchange knowledge and experience and also by the development of innovative digital tools. The second aim is to establish a common brand name for the Black Sea Wines and to setup a common marketing strategy that will result a significant increase of market shares in targeted and emergent wine consumer markets.

More specific, objectives of the Project are:

  1. Review of vine production opportunities in the researched areas and strengthening of exports in emergent wine consumer mark
  2. Defining the competitive advantage of “Black Sea Wines”.
  3. Creation of the “Black Sea Wine Producing Regions” Network
  4. Common approach in promotion and marketing the ‘Black Sea Wines’ and establishment of a common brand label.
  5. Development of an extrovert strategy for the wine sector with the support of innovative set of digital tools.
  6. Preparing the condition for capitalisation of the Project result and findings.

  • Small and medium-sized enterprises in 5 countries
  • Business Support Organizations (BSOs) from all 5 countries

Estimated Outputs and Result

  • Joint events for encouraging and promoting economic and trade intra-regional partnerships, enhancing direct contact and mutual knowledge among businesses in the Basin
  • Supporting instruments in order to promote and facilitate intra-regional economic and trade cooperation
  • The Black Sea Tradenet network, with 7 contact points in Armenia, Bulgaria, Greece, Romania and Turkey, as a common framework for developing intra-regional economic and trade cooperation in the Black Sea Basin
  • Increasing know-how and good case practices transfer among business support organizations from all 5 countries
  • Documentation on 9 subjects related to business registering, operating and cooperating in the 5 partner-countries

Expected Impact
The major impact of the “Black Sea WinExports” project is the establishment of the Black Sea wine producing regions Network. The establishment and the sustainability of the Network (as it is described above) will have impacts in economical, social and policy level for all the targeted areas. The network will provide the border cooperation between the participating regions, supporting a common aim.

Building a common brand name for the Black Sea Wines and the setup of a common marketing strategy will result a significant increase of market shares in targeted and emergent wine consumer markets (e.g. China). The extroversion of a traditional sector in all participating regions will offer a broader favourable economical and development milieu.

The development of the on-line platform and the on-line tools that support the marketing strategy will expect to have a strong technological impact. The diffusion and use of the website portal and the on-line platform are expected to have impacts in bridging of the technological gaps among the beneficiaries.

Total project budget 470.400 Euro, of which EU financing 423.360 Euro (90%)
